Installing System Updates

Occasionally updates to your operating system and installed software will be released. Some will be security fixes and others newer versions of your installed software. Your system is configured to automatically download and install security updates but when new versions of your programs are available you will be notified by a notification icon and pop-up.
  1. Click the orange notification icon near the top-right corner of the screen. The Update Manager window should appear.
  2. In the Update Manager window you will see a list of the available updates. If you like you may select each update to see a description of it in the bottom half of the window.
  3. When ready to install the updates click the Install Updates button.
  4. It is generally wise not to use applications while updates are being installed because if an application caused the system to crash it may leave the system in an unstable state. Once the updates have downloaded and installed click the Close button to close the Update Manager.
